CONDENSATE SEPARATION FOR DIGESTER
GAS/BIOGAS
Depending on the generation process digester gas is always water vapour
saturated. After leaving the digester, the gas will cool down
automatically and the steam condensates. The following table displays
the dependency of the saturation of vapour on the temperature:
|
temperature
|
water content |
|
35 °C
|
39.6 g/m3 |
|
20 °C
|
17.3 g/m3 |

10 °C

9.4 g/m3 |

5 °C

6.8 g/m3 |
If the condensate would
not be removed out of the gas pipe, disturbances are unavoidable,
because the gas can no longer flow through the pipe. Therefore a
sufficient condensate separation has to be installed.
The condensate separation out of the gas system should always be
installed at the low points, because the condensate conglomerates
automatically there. For these purposes, there are different devices
available which are applicable according to the local requirements.
These are in detail:
• condensate traps
• gavel filters
• ceramic filters
• condensate sluices
• gas drying units
